From Nussdorf to Vienna's local mountain, the Kahlenberg, and further over Vienna's highest peak, the Hermannskogel, into Lower Austria’s Weidlingbach. From there on to Scheiblingstein, Unterkirchbach, around the Wolfpassinger Berg, and then to St. Andrä-Wördern.
The route is continuously marked, though with various colors and numbers. Thus, a route description or GPX track is advantageous.
The start and end point is well connected to the ÖBB network, with the S40 running every 30 minutes.
There are options for refreshment.
The hike can be shortened at several points. A return journey is then possible by public bus.
Author’s recommendation
For a lunch stop, the Landgasthof Scheiblingstein is recommended. If your stomach is too full to continue hiking afterward, there is a bus stop directly in front of the inn with connections to Neuwaldegg or towards Tulln.
In St. Andrä-Wördern, a visit to the garden café is also worthwhile.

Tips and suggestions
The hiking trail can be well traversed year-round. However, after heavy rainfalls, expect mud.Roadbook
We start the route at Nussdorf Station and walk along the old cog railway line towards the Kahlenberg. Here we are still on city hiking trail 1. Shortly after the cemetery, we leave the residential area and hike through the vineyards into the wooded area. Here we leave the city hiking trail and go steeper uphill directly to the Kahlenberg. From there, you can enjoy a great view of Vienna. Passing the Stephaniewarte and keeping left on Höhenstraße, we circle the Sulzwiese on the right and then walk a short stretch through the tree burial Klosterwald.
Now we come to a wide hiking path. Along the Vienna city border, we hike to the Agnesbrünnl inn and then first turn left, then right steeply uphill following the path to the Hermannskogel. Here we reach the highest point of the route, and shortly after, the Habsburgwarte invites you to rest.
From now on, it goes downhill following city hiking trail 2 to the Griass Di a Gott inn on the L122. We cross this road and then follow the path right towards Hinterweidling. We are now already in Lower Austria. Then about 2 km along L116 to Weidlingbach before the path leads right away back slightly into the forest.
Near the end of the village, we cross this road and then, following the signs towards Scheibling, go again steeply uphill. In Scheiblingstein, the country inn is ideal for an extensive lunch break. We then follow the path to Steinriegl and later keeping left, follow the signs to Unterkirchbach. In this village, we turn left and reach the Hochfeldweg to the horse farm. If this turn is missed, simply continue straight into the Hagenbachklamm, which also ends in St. Andrä-Wördern. This shortens the route by about 2 km.
The path passes the horse farm on the right and then turns right into the forest up to the Wolfpassinger Kreuz. From here, you can enjoy a great view over the Tullnerfeld before tackling the last kilometers. Continue following the markings towards Hagenbachklamm, but before reaching it, turn left towards Schillern and then to St. Andrä-Wördern, where you enter the village just behind the church. About 2 km more, and then the hike ends at the station.
