NON-COMPETITIVE - SAMPLE - Brno Elevation Challenge at the peak of Sýkoř
Hiking trip through the picturesque landscape of the Svratka Highlands.
Sýkoř is one of the peaks of the "Brno Elevation Challenge" - a peak collecting game between the center of Brno and Praděd
The Sýkoř Elevation Challenge is located in the picturesque Svratka Highlands. I pondered for a long time how to get there. This route is not challenging, and the town of Lomnice is a true gem, where you will find many beautiful sights worth visiting.
The starting point is Borač. From here to Lomnice, you will follow a trail of Borač native, writer, and teacher Josef Uhr. The old, stone-laid path climbs from the Svratka valley over the ridge to the village of Veselí. It offers picturesque views of the Svratka Hills. From the Veselí crossroads, you can detour to the natural monuments Veselský Hill and Veselská lada. Lomnice is a small, cozy town with several Jewish landmarks (synagogue, cemetery, school), a baroque church, town hall, and a castle currently under reconstruction. From Lomnice to Sýkoř, you trudge along the Jára Cimrman trail with several stops called 'plahočina'.
The rock summit climber won’t miss the ascent to the transmitter and the actual peak of Sýkoř.
From Sýkoř, the route gradually descends through forests past Skorotice to Nedvědice.
Author’s recommendation
In Lomnice, the café Mumi Café was open this morning - excellent cider, coffee, and beer from the local brewery Genius Noci
The castle is closed, but in the garden, you will find a magnificent Red Beech tree

You can get from Brno to the starting point, the stop in Borač, by train. Likewise, back from Nedvědice. Train connection Brno-Tišnov - Tišnov - Borač.
It is a busy, typically tourist route. So in the season, you will likely travel with many other tourists. The advantage is that the proposed route is not among the most visited, so you will get off only with a small group of travelers, who mostly head elsewhere.
