The ascent itself is an experience. You walk across blooming alpine pastures, hear the gentle sound of cowbells and breathe in the clear mountain air. With every step the views open up, until you reach the summit cross of the Zirmkogel and enjoy the full beauty of the Pinzgau.

To the south, the mighty peaks of the Hohe Tauern sparkle. To the west and east stretches the soft ridge of the Pinzgauer Grasberge – the famous Kitzbühel Alps. To the north, the view reaches as far as the jagged cliffs of the Wilder Kaiser and the Leogang and Lofer Steinberge mountains.

The route follows varied natural trails, with some steeper passages that require fitness but reward you with breathtaking views. A perfect day tour for everyone who wants to immerse themselves in nature.

Save altitude gain: From May to mid-November you can ride your MTB up to just before the Hochsonnberg Hut and start your hike to the summit from there.
