The Ngu Lam summit is the highest point of Cat Ba island near Halong Bay in Vietnam. It is located in Cat Ba National Park and is easy to climb in a 2 1/2-hour route.
The recording of the route on Monday, 26 November 2018, 12:28 worked only for a short distance, the rest was created by routing and reconstruction.
There are mainly about 200 meters of altitude gain and loss in the shade of the forest, the highest point was measured at 204 m, the view from above to the many peaks is magnificent.

After entering the national park and purchasing the ticket, there are some interesting information boards about the region. After a few minutes on a level road, the guesthouse at the foot of the climb to the Ngu Lam summit is reached. In the present GPS file, the right path is always taken (not quite as on the plan at the guesthouse). The trail initially goes steeply uphill through the forest about 100 meters in height over laid steps to the Dinh Kim Giao rock (at the trail junction just below, keep right): after a level section the next two rock formations come, each overcome by steps. Then the forest opens up and the lookout tower is reached. Many turn back here. But it is less than 10 minutes on a rocky path through bushes to the summit. The return path to the lookout tower is the same.
The return path from the observation tower is initially like the way up, after the first rock section (steep, slippery, well secured) the path branches off to the right down through the hollow. From the guesthouse, the return path is then the same as the ascent.
