If you stand at Liezen station, two higher points stand out to the north: the Rote Wand and behind it the Nazogl with its characteristic terrace structure.

Roadbook
We leave Liezen station and walk a short stretch of road slightly to the right to reach the beginning of the main street. Due to the current (September 2016) station reconstruction, this section is not accessible and I had to detour left across the station street and then under Salzburger Street via the bus station at the first opportunity. The charming flower decorations of Lienz, however, led me back to the main street and the planned route. Past the noteworthy town hall to the widely visible church and behind it to the left. After a few side streets we come across a signpost to Hintereggeralm with path number 217 and follow the indication uphill to the right. Past the Lienz outdoor pool, always following the height street, winding uphill. A shortcut to the marker is offered by the Röthweg path, which omits a large right curve. Further up the road we finally reach the charming Gampersberg farm and after the left curve there we leave the road to the right over meadows into the forest at a yellow arrow towards Hintereggeralm, steeply up a wide path, then downhill on a forest road to the asphalt road. Across Almenland in a wide left curve to a small wood and behind it opens, beautiful and picturesque, the alpine pasture of the Hintereggeralm with its twenty huts. Just behind it towers our summit goal, the impressive Nazogl with its seemingly forbidding walls. As unconquerable as they look for non-climbers, quite surprisingly a relatively easy path leads through them. Due to the ongoing high pressure, the rock was dry and had good grip. So it went stimulatingly steeply in zigzags, varied in a wide right curve through the weak points of the wall. The markings seemed to me to be quite recent and were numerous and clearly visible – very good work! So we come, surrounded by enticing peaks all around, to the summit cross of the Nazogl. Return route reversed as the way there. On the Hintereggeralm during the alpine period, two options for refreshment: Schlagerbauern and Kinkhütte.
