Advice from the National Forest Office before setting off:
• Check the weather: the forest is dangerous in bad weather, with increased risks of falling branches or trees.
• Wear appropriate clothing, good shoes, bring water and a snack.
• Remember that the phone network does not cover everywhere.
• Take a map and learn how to navigate for greater safety.
• Reduce the risk of tick bites, which can be dangerous, by wearing clothing that covers arms and legs. In case of a bite, use a tick remover or go to the pharmacist. Consult your doctor if redness appears around the bite area.
• Some caterpillars (pine and oak processionary) are irritating. Protect yourself!
• Do not enter protected areas, renewing plots, forestry sites, or hunting zones; respect the signs.
