The route is to lead in and over the mountains. The well-marked hiking trails lead through a varied landscape, sometimes in the shade of the forest, sometimes with splendid distant views, to interesting hiking destinations. The Romans already tried to use the stones of the Felsenmeer. Some results of their stonemasonry work can be viewed. Wine is cultivated on the mountain slopes towards the Rhine. In Zwingenberg, the oldest town on the Bergstraße, or in Bensheim, there are many opportunities to end the tour in cozy local pubs with a good glass of wine.
