The hike to Mount Crot from Passo Staulanza traverses some of the most characteristic landscapes of the Bellunese Dolomites, alternating between fir forests, mugo groves and wide alpine pastures with continuous views of the surrounding mountains. CAI path 561 initially develops in the woods, in a quiet and shady environment, and then gradually emerges onto open slopes from which one can admire the majestic Monte Pelmo, Civetta, Marmolada and numerous peaks of Val di Zoldo and Val Fiorentina. As you ascend in altitude, the panorama becomes wider and wider, with spectacular views of the dolomite walls and green highland meadows frequented in summer by marmots and alpine wildlife. The last, steeper section leads to the summit of Mount Crot (2169 m), an exceptional vantage point with 360° views of the main peaks of the Dolomites.
Author’s recommendation
Just below the summit, from the last fork, there is a magnificent view of Mount Pelmo-one of the most beautiful vantage points on the route.
