This journey hike follows the footsteps of the very successful writer Stefan Andres from the 1950s, who was born in 1906 in Breitwiesmühle near Dröhnchen above Trittenheim. He paid tribute to his Mosel homeland with the autobiographical novel “Der Knabe im Brunnen” before he died in Rome in 1970. Whether he ever walked this path named after him is not recorded. Immediately after starting at Niederprümer Hof (museum), the well-known Moselhöhenweg on the Eifel side is briefly followed. Descending through vineyards into the Mosel valley, it is crossed at Longuich. Then a brisk pace follows along the flat Mosel riverside promenade. There, energy is gathered for the via ferrata Riol, whose viewing point richly rewards the effort of the ascent. The Moselhöhenweg on the Hunsrück side then leads us with some beautiful views of the Mosel loops through quiet forest on wide trails to the Zummeterhöhe. Our poet and climbing tour ends in the wine village of Leiwen. Then a leisurely ride by ship
