Scenic hike around Ormont to the Prüm spring and through the Bragphenn raised bog with its rare plant communities.
This circular route leads around the Eifel village of Ormont up to 655 m in height and runs mostly over wide forest paths. Along the way, you pass the Prüm spring. The Prüm is an approximately 85 km long tributary of the Sauer. The highlight of the hike is the Bragphenn raised bog. The saddle-shaped raised bog was formed about 7,000 years ago and consists of a valuable natural landscape with heathland, peat moss stands, and a small stand of Carpathian birches. A wooden boardwalk allows you to cross the sensitive wet area. The hike also passes remains of the former tank barriers of the Westwall. One should also not overlook the wind turbines that you cross on the way.

Roadbook
From the parking lot, we turn right into Ulmenstrasse. Follow it past the gas station and then turn right into Weinstrasse. Continuing uphill, we then keep to the left (signposted O1 and Moorpfad) and follow the road into the forest, past fish ponds and a shelter. Behind the ponds, we take the left path through a gate. We continue to follow the Moorpfad signs and after some time arrive at the Prüm spring. There, a hut invites you to take a break. The spring itself is a few steps away in the forest. We continue walking, passing two wind turbines, then keep right until this path ends at the country road. We follow the road to the right and turn left after a few meters into a parking lot. Here are some benches and tables, as well as an information board about the Braghenn raised bog. After a few meters, the path turns right and we are in the raised bog. We follow the boardwalk to the end of the bog and then keep right. We pass a small grove with remains of the former tank barriers of the Westwall. Now, you can already see the first houses of Ormont. We follow Schneifelstrasse and return via Ulmenstrasse to the church.
