Leave the car in Celle in the various available parking lots or along the road.
From here follow the signs for the Rocca Sella refuge, reachable after a few meters. Just past it, on the left, trail 571 starts. (Ignore the very beginning of the recorded track for this route because instead of immediately ascending towards the refuge, the road continues and re-enters the trail further on).
Then follow the signs for Rocca Sella. Pass the village of Comba and rejoin the trail under the forest, always following the sign for Rocca Sella (still trail 571) and ignoring the sign for Monte Sapei.
A little above 1200m elevation there is a junction. Here you can add a detour to the suggested route: if you take the "Tramontana" trail on the right you climb directly to Rocca Sella, via a trail classified as EE difficulty for some slightly exposed sections and several passages on rocks. From Rocca you can then descend to the pass and continue on the route to Monte Sapei.
Otherwise, continue straight following the proposed track heading, still on 571, towards Colle Arponetto.
The trail always climbs steadily from Celle up to Colle Arponetto, from here turn left (Monte Sapei sign) and the slope decreases. With the last 200m or so of elevation gain you reach the summit of Monte Sapei. A rather broad peak with good panoramic views.
Descend continuing north until encountering trail 571 where you need to turn left. The trail in this part becomes a bit more challenging as it includes passages over scree both in the first descent section until rejoining trail 571, and in the following traverse to return back. There are also a couple of passages that may require the use of hands.
Finally, the trail rejoins the forest just before Fontana Barale. From here the path continues to Celle with a gentler slope than the ascent.
The route can be done in both directions as you wish; if you want to add Rocca Sella it is perhaps advisable to follow the proposed direction, but there are few differences.
Recommended, given the not high elevation, especially in the mid-seasons.
