    Roadbook

    ACCESS:

From Sefro take S.P. 79 towards Pioraco. After about 2.5 km, on the right you will see the sign indicating the district Agolla. Turn and upon reaching the village park near the church of San Michele Arcangelo, in Piazza dei Caduti.

    DESCRIPTION:

The route starts along the road to the left of the church San Michele Arcangelo (Via Monte Primo). After about 100 meters leave the road to take a white path on the left (path no. 242), bordered by a partly defaced dry stone wall. The path climbs rapidly above Agolla to an altitude of 650 m.a.s.l. where you reach a fork. Take the left path (no. 243) descending slightly for a few meters, then the route flattens out before starting to ascend again, alternating flat stretches with slight uphill sections. The itinerary mostly takes place inside an oak forest which occasionally opens to clearings, up to 932 m.a.s.l., where you emerge into a wide and flat clearing dotted with broom bushes, juniper, and dog rose, called “Piano della Porta.” Here the direction of the path inverts 180° to return to the forest, with a flat trail to another lovely clearing that leads to a wide and comfortable grassy path. The route again reverses direction to head for the summit of Monte Primo (no. 242). After a hairpin turn, you reach a large stone. The signs invite us to leave the comfortable path to follow unmarked meadows. Follow the markers which, after about a hundred meters, lead back into the forest. An oblique route on a good trail leads to a saddle between Monte Primo and a small hill. From here continue left on a clear flat path (no. 242) then right (path no. 242a) towards the northeast ridge of Monte Primo. Near the ridge, leave the main path and, on an oblique uphill route marked by signs (no. 242a), reach the ridge. Follow the ridge to the summit (altitude: 1301 m.a.s.l.).

From the summit descend south to intersect the gravel track of the saddle, between Monte Primo and the hill. First head left (path no. 242a), descending into the grassy valley, until a track on the right leads to Pian dei Morri. At the plains, turn right onto an old road with rubble and loose stones, called Lord Fiatu. From here the signage shows the direction to Agolla. Leave the meadows to return to the woods until Fonte Meregna (altitude: 900 m.a.s.l.). Follow the clear mule track (path 242) which returns to 650 m.a.s.l., and shortly back to Agolla.
