Monte Pennino loop

Circular hike starting from the Colfiorito Plateau that in the central part reaches the summit of Monte Pennino, with a beautiful view of the Monti Sibillini. The route starts from the Annifo Cemetery initially on a dirt road, then climbs Col Falcone to intercept the CAI 312 trail. Proceed left on a slight ascent, where the trail at a certain point changes number and becomes 314, turning right and climbing towards Monte Acuto, continuing until reaching a dirt road. The route continues with ascents and some descents near Colle della Croce before turning right onto a meadow for the climb to the summit of Monte Pennino, from where you enjoy a magnificent view. To the south, the Sibillini are visible and can be admired as long as you want. To the west, the view from above the Colfiorito Plateau resembles a painting with small plots of land of different shades, with Monte Subasio in the background. From the summit, proceed eastwards, initially on the ridge and then on a fairly steep descent that requires attention until just before entering the forest. The trail then becomes very poorly marked, so it is essential to monitor the GPS until Forca di Bara, where it becomes more visible again, but then an off-trail shortcut on the right still requires checking the track until reaching the CAI 201A trail. Continue descending to Valle Scurosa, covered by a dense forest, which you must climb until reaching Bocchetta della Scurosa to see the sky again. The route continues on a well-defined trail until rejoining the CAI 312 trail, which closes the loop and returns to the starting point.
