Monte Nuvolau
Located between the Falzarego and Giau Passes, the Nuvolau Group has undisputed qualities as a hiking area. One of the most rewarding undertakings there is the ascent of Monte Nuvolau as well as its circumnavigation.
From the valley station, take the Cinque Torri chairlift to the mountain station at Rif. Scoiattoli and follow cart path no. 439 southwest up to a fork in the path. Straight ahead (path no. 439) to the northwest ridge of Monte Nuvolau and there over cart tracks to the summit of Monte Nuvolau, 2575 m, with refuge.Descend the northwest ridge again, then down a rocky step to the left to Forc. Nuvolau, 2413 m (Rif. Averau). Follow the cart track numbered 464 southwest down to a fork. Take path no. 452 to the left, southeast up under the Nuvolau walls. There along scree and boulder slopes to the southern ridge of Monte Gusela. Over it, past the junction of path no. 443, down to Passo Giau, 2233 m.Back to the right-hand junction of path no. 443. Follow it northwards, then through a landslide zone to a large shoulder with a boulder. Through another landslide area, then to the saddle between Becco Muráglia and Monte Nuvolau, 2180 m.
