Unione dei Comuni Valli Taro e Ceno
Loop route with departure and return to Bore, a pleasant walk to take all year round with a modest elevation gain.
From the town center, with its Church of San Lorenzo Martire from the early 1900s, the route skirts Monte Costaccia before climbing towards Monte Mu.
Monte Mu, 953 meters, is characterized by the softness of its shape, which together with the vegetation covering it, hides its summit.
It, together with the nearby Lucchi and Palazza mountains—mountains straddling the Arda Valley and the Cenedola Valley—hosts the chestnut grove considered the largest in Emilia Romagna.
The walk continues immersed among centuries-old chestnut and beech groves. According to tradition, since the time of the Lombards, the chestnut was called the "Tree of Bread" because it was cultivated to produce flour from dried chestnuts. The care of the chestnut tree has been preserved and handed down to this day; every year during the autumn season hundreds of tourists come for the chestnut harvest and to enjoy the beauty of the woods.
After Monte Mu, the slope eases to transform into a very gentle descent until reaching Cà Luneto, from where you follow a stretch of paved road which, at the junction with the Bosco del Paradiso, offers a beautiful view over the village of Bore and the Cenedola Valley before quickly returning to the starting point.
