Monte Grappa is famous throughout Italy. Since 1935, the summit has been occupied by a monumental military cemetery for fallen soldiers of the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies. Included within is a chapel that already existed, and an observation platform. The view is truly exquisite, as the Alps end abruptly here and the Po Plain lies about 1600 meters below. Our hiking trail starts 500 meters below the summit and offers wide views over the plain. The return path passes through idyllic meadows and forest.
If the long side of the hut Baita Camol is on our left, we see a meadow slope ahead. There is a path running diagonally up to the right (signpost "Per Cima Grappa"). We follow this path and reach above the meadow the Forcella Camol with a table and signpost directing us left to Monte Grappa (100). We follow path 100 to the summit.And now the view begins. To the left, we notice a tunnel, followed closely by two others. After that, the path goes left – watch for the red-white markings! After a wall, left again and another left (faint marking) onto the clear path leading up to the meadow. On the meadow, the path is clear, the view enchants us. At Forcella M. Legnarola, we maintain our course (signposts as before). Straight ahead goes up into the forest, then shortly after back out. Now a short detour to the edge of the terrain is worthwhile to enjoy even more of the view.
