Those who love secure pathways will certainly know the »Via della Pace« (»Peace Path«) in the Fanes mountains. This route allows sure-footed hikers to cross the heights at the valley junction between Val Fanes and Val Travenanzes – Monte del Vallon Bianco and Furcia-Rossa peaks. The positions, trenches, and shelters encountered along the way provide a vivid picture of the hardships of mountain warfare. Monte del Vallon Bianco is a massive, bulky mountain, on whose summit one faces the colossal rock formations of the Tofane directly.
Day 1: From the Ghf. Pederü, right of the road to Kleinfanes, along path no. 7 gently upward through mountain pine in a southern direction, later in switchbacks steeply up to a boulder-strewn moraine ridge in the flat middle section of the valley. Beyond briefly downhill, then level through mountain pine to the Fanes road at 1826 m, near Lake Pischodel. The road 150 m further, then right on a wide footpath (no. 7) ascending westward through forest and mountain pine and back to the road. On the road to a sharp left bend, then up along the narrow valley trench above the rushing Vigilbach to the south and past the Jst. Kleinfanes at 2000 m, to the small Fanes alpine pasture in the Parom valley »Ücia Pices Fanes«. At the road fork Lavarellahütte/Faneshütte keep left and ascend in 5 min to the Faneshütte at 2060 m.Day 2: From the Faneshütte take forest road no. 11 (shorter route!) through light forest, then over meadows in switchbacks southward to Limojoch, 2172 m, and level to Lake Limo,
