We started at the free parking lot near Porto San Nicolo in Riva del Garda. At the entrance of the parking lot, there are also hiking signs, and Monte Brione is already indicated here. This makes finding the way very straightforward.
You simply follow the hiking sign and will shortly reach the beginning of the hiking trail. From here, it goes up a gentle path, partly with quite high steps, always along the edge of the horseshoe-shaped mountain. After about 2.7 km and 330 m elevation gain, you reach the Batteria di Mezzo, a somewhat larger fortification, after about 60 to 75 minutes. Continuing along the trail, you will reach the summit cross of Monte Brione within a few minutes.
Afterwards, the path descends briefly until you reach a road at about 300 m altitude. If you like, you can return to the parking lot here by following the path, or at the junction, turn right towards the north to continue the rest of the mountain. Shortly afterwards, you reach another fork, where you keep right to ascend again to Forte San Alessandro. Then you walk along the ridge directly towards the large antennas, which you do not actually reach. Just before, the path branches off again to the left, bypassing the antennas. Through a beautiful forest and past other installations, the path continues downhill on the northern side until reaching a road at about 140 m altitude. From here, follow this road further downhill until you reach the foot of the mountain. From here, follow the road towards Lake Garda and Brione until you reach the starting point of the route again after about 1.5 km on a signposted path.
