ASCENT: From the parking lot at 70 m, take the road towards the tunnel and before the fort, turn left up a staircase to the hiking trail (part of the Sentiero della Pace). There are repeatedly great views downwards and photo spots on the right side. Eventually, we reach a bunker roof of Forte Garda at 340 m. Next follows a grove with olive and holm oaks, we pass the third fortress, the Batteria di Mezzo, and reach a cross (355 m). A few hundred meters further, we are at the transmission facilities and at the highest point of the hike, Monte Brione 376 m. 310 m elevation gain and less than 1 hour walking time.
DESCENT: Back to the bunker roof at 340 m, a great viewpoint where we wait for the night. It is worth lingering there. Slowly the lights over Riva and Torbole come on. On the descent, we keep right and reach the mountain road where the descent is easier than on the hiking trail. However, those with a good headlamp can also return via the hiking trail to Riva (70 m).
Total 315 m elevation gain and 1 1/2 hours walking time.
