    Roadbook

See also detailed "Time-Altitude Diagram in the image gallery".

ASCENT: At the parking lot in front of Malga Somator (1309 m) directly by the sign (Via Ferrata del Somator 1:20) uphill to a viewpoint with a bench (1375 m) and continue on the good path along the ridge to the rocks around 1445 m. Pass left here and immediately secure on the right uphill to the ridge. At 1505 m to another viewpoint into the Adige valley and to the next safeties. At 1525 m right briefly and steeply (A-B) uphill (ropes and foot pegs) and then continue left again on the ridge. Small counter-ascent and we are on the plateau and see to the left the concrete cross of Monte Biaena (1615 m), which we reach in a few minutes. 330 m elevation gain and 1 hour walking time.

DESCENT: A few meters back to the sign and right (always on path 673) steep downhill, but the path is well maintained. At 1440 m there is another viewpoint, at 1390 m it becomes flatter and we are on a pull path. At 1295 m we reach the paved forest road by a house with a signpost and follow it to the left, slightly downhill and uphill to Rif Somator at 1309 m.

Total max. 2 hours walking time and 350 m elevation gain over about 4 km distance.
