One of the most fascinating hikes in Adamello Park.
At the Pozzolo rest area (1550 m), accessible by car from Edolo, take path no. 634, leading to another rest area. Ignore sign no. 672 on the left and turn right into the forest. After crossing the enchanting Foppa basin, you pass a steep gully and reach the junction for Monte Aviolo. The route becomes challenging: alternating rock protrusions, gorges (beware of snow or ice residues; crampons and ice axes can be helpful), and some climbing sections (easy but slightly exposed). You reach the summit (extraordinary panorama stretching from the nearby Baitone Glacier to the distant Monte Rosa). After returning to the junction, turn left and reach the ridge between Monte Foppa and Monte Colmo (some sections on slippery rocks) and descend to Malga Stain. Continuing westward, cross the extraordinary viewpoint next to the building and enter the forest to quickly return to the starting point.
