The Montagut is only the second highest peak on the upper course of the Riu Gaià, but certainly the most scenic. Its wide heights are deserted, the numerous castles and proud farms stretch out only ruin walls; only the massive castle church Sant Jaume de Montagut still stands defiantly on the heights. Our solitary hike takes us on forest roads and narrow paths to two peaks and over the shoulders of the mountain.
