This route leads from the old mining settlement Grünach through shady forests on the eastern slope of Mitteltal up to the Mathematical Research Institute. Scientists from all over the world are regularly guests at this renowned institution to work in the seclusion of the Wolftal. A highly interesting insight into the world of mathematics is provided by MiMa, the Mineral and Mathematics Museum in the Hofbauernhaus in the district Kirche. Along the Wolftal walking path, you return along the valley floor to the starting point. There are several places to stop for refreshments halfway in the district Walke.

- From Lindenplatz, pass the Posthörnle inn. After about 50 m, cross the country road and go over the lower Grünach bridge. Continue straight over Mühlengrün. At the end of the street, turn right. After about 50 m, go uphill on a field path to Hofhalde. From there, follow the Lower Landeck path to Schulersloch.
- There, cross the asphalt road and continue on a forest path to the Mathematical Research Institute. Pass it on the right and follow the paved road downhill. Before the bridge, turn left, pass the depot, go straight along the Wolf river to L 96. Opposite is the bus stop.
- You are now directly in the district Oberwolfach-Walke. To the right of the Marienkirche is the town hall of the Oberwolfach community. It is 200 m downhill from here to the Walkenstein inn and 50 m uphill to the Hirschen inn for refreshments.
- Directly opposite Marienkirche, turn onto the Wolftal walking path, marked with the Vogelweg sign. Pass the Baiersbauernhof on the left; the paved road changes to a gravel path to Jungbauernhof.
- Past the Steigfels chapel and the sawmill before Gelbach, the Wolftal walking path leads back to Oberwolfach-Kirche, the starting point of the route.
- There are several places to stop for refreshments here. A visit to the MiMa - Museum of Minerals and Mathematics or the visitor mine Grube Wenzel is also recommended.
