Our tour to the Mirador Cóndor takes us into the heart of the Torres del Paine National Park. It begins at the impressive Salto Chico, where the thundering masses of water plunge into Lago Pehoé. Although the route is short, the steep ascent demands quite a bit of stamina. The path is mostly earthy and can be slippery when wet. As we gain height, the view becomes more impressive with every step. First we overlook the turquoise lake, then the majestic peaks of Cuernos del Paine and Paine Grande appear on the horizon. The name of the viewpoint is no coincidence: with a bit of luck, we can watch Andean condors on their elegant gliding flights. Once we reach the top, we are rewarded for the effort of the ascent with an extensive panorama. The strong Patagonian wind is a constant companion up here, which makes the experience all the more intense.
