In the valley of the Emsbach, the Romans already mined, and in the Middle Ages the Archbishops of Trier improved their coffers with silver.
With industrialization, mining finally experienced its heyday. The mining history hike on the trail of the Emser ore mining leads you to the operational sites of these different epochs. The museum itself invites you to delve deeper into the history, and a comprehensive mineral collection is also presented (opening hours: March to October, Sundays 2-4 p.m.).
