TREUCHTLiNGEN LÄDT DICH AUF.
The path starts along the Altmühl, through the Burgstallwald.
In the forest, you encounter a typical karst feature, a doline field. About 80 hole-like depressions can be found in the ground. In the Middle Ages, people were baffled by these holes – hence their name "Höllentrichter" (hell funnels), which is still used today.
Continue along the Schambach to the village of the same name.
The old town center is characterized by shallow-gabled Altmühl houses. Worth seeing is the church, whose construction goes back to a Willibald church from the 8th century.
The further course of the hike leads through the nature reserve "Schambachried" to Nagelberg. From here you have a nice view of the four mills (lower paper mill, Kohlmühle, Lehnleinsmühle and Kästleinsmühle) in the valley.
In addition, this path passes by the "villa rustica", the excavated remains of a Roman estate.
