Meteora Trail M09 - Fairy Fountain – Kastraki Old Aqueduct Trail
This route takes hikers from Kastraki to the old water supply of the settlement, passing under Agio Pnevma rock and through a scenic forest trail.
From the settlement of Kastraki, the M9 route goes up to the NE, in the direction of the settlement's old water supply. The ascent follows the track of the MTR route, as it approaches Agio Pneuma and Koumaries rocks. The route follows an uphill path which in places becomes loose without creating serious problems of passability. At the point where the main route seems to turn left, towards the rock of Agio Pneuma - where a secondary route ascends - our route continues straight uphill, between the aforementioned rocks, and under the cool shade of the thickening deciduous trees in this area. At a short distance the descent begins and further down the route, an intersection is met in a special viewpoint, where one can enter M8 path. Following the M8 route to the left (W), the pedestrian ends up on the dirt road that approaches the old water supply of the settlement of Kastraki.

One can find cars or e-bikes to rent in order to move around Meteora with a quick search on the internet. Taxis are also available and local buses perform daily trips to the Monasteries and back. Since it would not be nice to advertise any business here, and most hotels/places to rent have a list of useful telephone numbers this section had better be left at that. In any case the trails of this region can easily be combined to create shorter or longer circular routes starting from one of the two settlements of this area (Kalabaka & Kastraki).
