Meteora southeast loop

This route takes you to the most interesting sights in the southeast area of Meteora. One highlight after another... If you have little time in Kalambaka, this route shows you the most important places in the region... The route leads to the eastern Meteora monasteries (Stefanos / Triada). The latter is known from the James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only", 1981. Then it goes to the famous "sunset viewpoint" of Meteora, from where you can see all the monasteries. The hike then leads through forest along the Meteora rocks. There is a view of the monks’ prison. Then a short uphill section between the steepest Meteora towers. A short adventurous path leads to Ag. Pneuma, a brilliant viewpoint which requires some scrambling (sure-footedness, no fear of heights!). Those who are not confident with heights and sure-footedness should skip this! Descent between the rock walls to Kastraki. Now you can visit the hermits' caves. Return to Kalambaka and ascent to Stefanos Monastery. Orientation: the path is poorly or not at all signposted! Map and/or GPS required. Poor to no GPS reception between the rocks!
