Marktschellenberg - The Barmsteine, a BR tip

A prominent landscape feature is the Kleine Barmstein (841m), which you can include in your tour. The following text comes from the outdoor hiking tip "Großer und Kleiner Barmstein, die Wahrzeichen von Hallein". Link:
"You now go through the forest past the large Barmstein on the right towards the Kleine Barmstein. The well-secured path leads in about 15 minutes to the Kleine Barmstein. Surefootedness and a head for heights are also required here. The path is somewhat easier than the one to the Große Barmstein. At the summit, there is no cross but a maypole! From the top you enjoy the view of the Salzach valley, the Tennengebirge, the Osterhorn group, Watzmann, Göll and the Untersberg. The return path is the same as the outbound path up to the Kleine Barmstein junction." End quote.
Author’s recommendation
Visit Salzburg! The hike or city walk "Salzburg - Small city walk almost without elevation" offers you a nice insight into the Mozart city.

Safety information
On this route, only the ascent to the Kleine Barmstein requires surefootedness and a head for heights and in my opinion is only recommended for older children with mountain experience!Tips and suggestions
Another excursion tip:
Roadbook
You are best oriented by a printed Outdooractive map and additionally by the signposts at the forks or you let yourself be guided by the GPX file. In the map, the signposts are pinpointed as images.
A certain orientation is offered by the Arnoweg, which also connects the Thündl ruins and the houses on Mehlweg.
Without the Kleine Barmstein, the path can be classified as T1 difficulty.

There are two public parking lots, which are relatively small. The map in the picture series shows their location. One very small one is almost at the end of Barmsteinweg, the other at the end of Mehlweg.Coordinates
