Selected alternatives for you
The Mangfall can be hiked in its entirety from its outflow from the Tegernsee in Gmund to its mouth in the Inn near Rosenheim. Two variants in four and five stages are described here.

The first stage of the complete hike down the Mangfall begins in Gmund am Tegernsee and leads over 20 km to Darching. The second stage leads from Darching via Weyarn to Teufelsgraben. Optionally, you can stop for refreshments at the Bräustüberl in Valley. Below Hohendilching is the rewarding sculpture clearing. This is the most technically demanding stage and is in the upper T2 range. The other bank is also interesting on this stage.

If you have opted for the four-part variant, the second stage ends after 17.5 km in Westerham. The third stage leads over 18 km to Heufeld, the fourth over 19 km to Rosenheim.

In the five-part variant, you turn left in Teufelsgraben and finish the second stage after 15.5 km at Kreuzstraße station. The third stage then leads from Kreuzstraße over 17.5 km to Bruckmühl, where you can possibly visit the Salus Auwald biotope. The fourth stage to Bad Aibling is the shortest at just over 11 km and can be followed by a short tour of the town. The fifth stage takes you a good 15 km to Rosenheim.

    Author’s recommendation

In May and June, you will find many different flowering plants on the second stage.

    Safety information

The second stage is technically demanding, with frequent steep climbs and descents and small streams to cross without a bridge.

    Tips and suggestions

The path partly coincides with the Munich waterway

In addition to the Bräustüberl, there is also the Valley Organ Center

The sculpture clearing is not to be missed.

Between Westerham and Bruckmühl you pass the Feldolling flood polder.

From the end of March to the end of November, you can visit the Salus Auwaldbiotop on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays in the afternoon.

A report on the four-part variant carried out by a DAV group can be found here.
