Starting from the “Sonnenberg hut”, you hike along a flat path with a magnificent view of the wine village of Kembach through the vineyard area “Sonnenberg”. The rock of the vineyard area is lower shell limestone, which gives the wine a mineral note and can produce a high color intensity in red wines due to the reflection of the sun's rays. The path now passes short sections of forest, winds slightly downhill, and later climbs back uphill through the “Ebenrain” vineyard. At the namesake lookout platform, you are rewarded with a beautiful view of the Main loop at Urphar with the fortified church and the first foothills of the Spessart.
After a short descent, you reach Lindelbach and pass the baroque village church from the mid-18th century. The hike leads you through the “Schöneberg” vineyard as well as over a varied route through a beautiful, cool forest area – especially refreshing in summer – back to the starting point.

The hike starts in Kembach at the "Sonnenberg hut" (parking available). With magnificent views down to the wine village of Kembach, you walk on a flat path through the vineyard area “Sonnenberg”. On the edge of the path, you can see the foothills of the Franconian shell limestone. These rock layers give the wines grown here their typical taste.
The path then follows short forest sections. It winds slightly downhill, close to the outskirts of Dietenhan. Turn right and climb up the vineyard “Ebenrain” on a paved road. From up here you have a wonderful view of the Main loop at Urphar and the Himmelreich. If you’re lucky, you may catch the perfect moment to snap a souvenir photo of a cruise ship passing directly below the historic St. Jacob's fortified church.
After a short descent, you reach Lindelbach. The path takes you directly past the baroque village church from the mid-18th century.
Afterwards, you walk through the “Schöneberg” vineyard eastwards and then turn right onto a varied hiking path through a beautiful forest area back to the starting point at the “Sonnenberg hut”.

From Wertheim, take the L2310 towards Würzburg. In Urphar, turn right (towards Tauberbischofsheim). After 4 km you will reach Kembach. Turn left up Sonnenbergstrasse into the vineyard. From here you will reach the Sonnenberg hut directly.
