Mäschenboden is a charming alpine settlement with beautiful wooden huts. The described route is a varied hike at medium altitude. Due to the many beautiful resting places (optionally with trees, streams, climbing rocks), it is also suitable for adventure-hungry and eager »young hikers«. In Monstein, you should visit the former church (in the center of the village). After the construction of the new one (somewhat off to the side on a hill), it was used as a fire station depot but has since been restored. It now serves the community as a meeting place as well as for exhibitions.
From Monstein (1, local bus) through the village to a junction. Here turn left to the picturesque huts of Oberalp, 1913 m. Along the way, you gain an increasingly beautiful view of the opposite peaks, such as the Sandhubel or the Valbellahorn (Plessuralps). Across a meadow, you descend to the Oberalpbach and enter the forest behind the bridge. In a wide curve, you then cross a ridge spur, which extends from the Chrachenhorn towards the northwest (»Rügg«) with gentle ups and downs. At Laubenenalp, 1850 m, you then reach the forest road, which leads directly up from Monstein and will later serve us as a descent path. Via Inneralp (4, lower and upper Alp), you finally reach the pretty alpine settlement Mäschenboden, 1993 m, with its old wooden huts, a nice resting and viewing spot. The descent leads us back to Laubenenalp. Here we keep left and hike on an alpine road through the forest – with beautiful views of the peaks on the opposite valley side. Finally, we hike down to Monstein,
