Loisachfilze near Penzberg. Scenic, sunny round route
The route partly leads through the moorland and along the shore of the Loisach, but also passes over some hills on the northern edge of the Loisachfilze and offers great views of the moor and mountains.
The Loisachfilze are part of a moorland that stretches along the Loisach between Lake Kochel and Penzberg. Many forest paths and trails cross this landscape, which offers very different impressions depending on the season and weather. Beautiful views can be enjoyed of the Bavarian Pre-Alps from Benediktenwand to Heimgarten and further to the Wetterstein Mountains. Many flowers in spring and summer, yellowish grass and yellow leaves of the birches in autumn, and vast snow landscapes in winter.
The circular route can be started at many points and is reachable by train from Munich in under 1 hour.

From Penzberg station, after 1.4 km, you reach the described route via Ludwig-März-Straße near St. Johannisrain. Over St. Johannisrain (nice chapel behind the village) and Edenhof, you cross the Tuzing/Kochel railway. At the connecting road Penzberg/Bichl, turn right onto a bike and footpath. After a few hundred meters, turn right down to Schönmühl. Before the Loisach, take a forest road along the Loisach on the right, which soon turns into a path. The narrow path leads through the moor and directly along the Loisach up to the B472. Under the federal road and then briefly west along the street until a forest road begins on the left. Head southwest there. Shortly before entering the forest, turn right and pass through small woods and turf pits south of Urthaler Hof, then turn onto a field path to Urthaler Hof and reach the inn with dining options. Continue west on a forest road parallel to the B472 up to an underpass. Go through there and north on a field path to the hamlet Unterriedern. Turn right there. At the next fork, keep left. Alternatively, you can walk a few meters directly along the Riderner Weiher. The forest path bends right and climbs a hill. Initially through patches of forest, the view opens soon to the south towards the mountains. The path leads east. Soon, you come across a small road leading up the hill from Penzberg. From here, asphalt and some car traffic.
