Beautiful alpine crossing between the Gastertal and the Lötschental.
Small alpine passages on the glacier (At 2400m!) and on the moraine rocks well equipped with cables.
Over 2 days, continue towards Fafleralp and the Anen hut

From Kandersteg, take the alpine taxi (reservation required) to Selden at the end of the Gasterntal. Ask the driver to stop at the Berghotel Steinbock.
Take the path heading south which quickly crosses the Kander using a Nepalese bridge, then climb along the Leitibach to Gfelalp (Pt 1843). Continue along the ridge up to an altitude of 2000m where the path crosses to the left to pass through the Schönbüel plateau. It is possible to continue along the ridge up to Pt 2095 or the path joins the shortcut. Continue southwest to Balme, Pt 2405.
Surprisingly, the Lötsch Glacier is still present at this altitude. Cross the glacier heading southeast by following the stakes to exit onto the moraine at Pt 2497m.
A somewhat steep section with a faint path and cables allows reaching the Lötschepass plateau.
Just after the Lötschenpasshut, take the panoramic path heading east that leads to the small Sattlegi col (Pt2565). Continue through Mälcherbeden to reach the heights of Lauchernalp.
