It is believed that the small medieval castle “Schloss im Loch,” located above the bend in the Lech at Pinswang, stood on the site of a Celtic sacrificial site that had existed as early as 200 B.C.
We walk from the train station in Füssen—800 m—toward the youth hostel across the railway grounds, turn right onto a street, and then take Sonnenstraße. After crossing the main road and the adjacent bike path, we follow a narrow road through a rocky ravine to Bad Faulenbach. There, we follow the “Lechfall” sign and walk uphill along the Ländeweg to the Via Claudia monument. Steps lead us down to the Maxsteg at the Lechfall.After crossing the public road, the trail begins to climb. The “Alpenrosenweg” sign points to a hiking trail that joins a forest road at the pavilion. We then branch off onto the trail toward Ziegelwies–Walderlebniszentrum. The Alpine Trail, signposted toward the state border and featuring educational panels, leads past the Füssener Wand climbing area and later transitions into a forest road leading down into the valley.From the former Tyrolean border station at Weißhaus, a hiking trail runs alongside the state road to the power plant.
