Little Mainz Ridge Path stage 2: Ebersheim - Forsthaus Ober-Olm
The 8.3 km long hiking trail is part of the Little Mainz Ridge Path, which runs a total of 33.6 km west around the city of Mainz.
The hiking route begins at Mainz-Laubenheim station and runs on the heights above Bodenheim, Gau-Bischofsheim, and Harxheim to Mainz-Ebersheim. It continues via Klein-Winternheim to the Forest Nature Reserve Center Forsthaus Ober-Olmer Wald and after crossing the forest through the Finthen orchards to the Lenneberg Forest, behind which the endpoint is reached at the Mainz-Mombach forest cemetery.
The Little Mainz Ridge Path is ideal for nature lovers who want to get to know the surroundings of Mainz from its most beautiful side. All sections are marked in both directions:
- Signposts always in the hiker's line of sight, with directional arrows where necessary
- arrow signposts with distance information at all junctions of the hiking trail
There are marked access paths to the Mainz tram termini (Finthen, Lerchenberg) and to the stations in Nieder-Olm, Klein-Winternheim, Budenheim, and Mainz-Mombach.

Roadbook
The trail markings lead from the starting point in the town center onto the Winternheimer Höhe plateau, 233 m above sea level, with a rest area and surprising panoramic views. The hikers' view extends from the wind farm near Mainz-Hechtsheim above the state capital to the high-rise buildings in Mainz-Lerchenberg.
At the Winternheimer Hoch, an EXTRATOUR branches off: This marked access path leads via the Wilhelm-Holzamer-WingertWeg, one of the four Wilhelm-Holzamer literary trails, to Nieder-Olm.
On the ridge path, the descent into the Haybach valley follows behind the rest area. In the valley, there is a connection to the 3.8 km long panorama path of the municipality of Klein Winternheim.
The Little Mainz Ridge Path runs parallel to the Haybach and at a renaturalized section lies the shady rest area Am Weiherborn. It continues through the community of Klein-Winternheim. Behind the motorway underpass begins the ascent over the highest natural elevation of the ridge path, 240 m above sea level, at the L427 near Mainz-Lerchenberg. After a short section, the endpoint of the stage is reached at the Forest Nature Reserve Center Forsthaus Ober-Olmer Wald.
