The Concluses form the most impressive part of a gorge carved deep into the limestone by the Aiguillon. Overhanging rocks, huge potholes and pools with greenish shimmering water give this cool, gloomy place a peculiar charm.
From the parking lot at the Concluses, we do not take the direct, marked path to the Portail (to the right), but an unmarked trail to the left that leads steeply downhill. (In case of orientation problems, the marked route is recommended even for the way there.) Through the dense, ever-green garrigue vegetation, we enter the gorge. Along the way, there are repeated impressive views of the opposite steep walls. When the dried-up streambed is reached, we follow it eastward (to the right) more or less off-path. At the Baume des Bœufs, we stay on the beaten path along the Aiguillon – framed by bizarre rock walls – until we reach the Portail. This is a kind of gate, as the rocks close above the hiker except for a narrow crack. From here, depending on inclination and water level, one should definitely venture a few hundred meters further along the bed of the Aiguillon into the most beautiful part of the gorge (until it opens up somewhat again, about 15 min one way).
