From the Grubigsteinbahn valley station, follow the marked trail to the Wolfratshauser Hütte. Note: In some sections, a mountain bike trail runs parallel to the hiking trail. Behind the hut, the trail descends into the valley and then turns left uphill again at the valley floor. Here, stay along the stream bank until visible trail markers reappear. This path leads to a saddle, where we turn right toward the summit and work our way up the final meters of elevation through steep meadow terrain. A spectacular panorama awaits us at the summit cross. The descent route toward Gartner Joch is not signposted. It’s best to follow the GPX track.
Toward the end, the descent follows a rather unremarkable forest road. If you’d like to gain a few more meters in elevation, you can also take the Lermooser Höhenweg back toward the Grubiksteinbahn.
