From the car park, follow the hiking trail into the Handlgraben. Then take the turnoff to the Obere Handlalm. From the alm, follow the forest road southwards. Directly after a curve with a stream, a barely visible path steeply ascends to the left. Follow this. Cross a meadow below the Loibner Boden. Then it goes steeply uphill again through the forest to Jhtt. Kohlebenhütte. From there, always follow the ridge northwards along the path through the larches to the summit.
For the descent, take the marked hiking trail to Lamingsattel. Continue following the signs to Leobnerhütte. From Leobnerhütte, take the normal hiking trail back to the car park.
