Varied: first through the forest, then over hilly hop fields to the idyllic village of Leitenbach. Along the little river Abens back to Mainburg. Model airfield, deer enclosure, sheep pastures along the way. With a nice hut tavern to stop by.

Start at the parking lot of the Theresienhütte (Theresienhöhe 1, 84048 Mainburg)
Follow the forest trail straight ahead, turn left at the chapel. At the end of the forest, turn right and follow the path. Sunny from here. An English lawn to the left: that's the model airfield (http://www.mbc-mainburg.de) So better not let the dog dig here ;) Quickly cross the flight path when there is flight activity. Or watch a little: sometimes you can admire spectacular maneuvers here! Then continue downhill to a T-junction, then turn right (away from the village). Along the road for a while (hop gardens), then turn left at the two large thuja trees with a crossroads to go up the hill. Here the path also crosses the stream (steep bank, water hard to access). Once at the top, turn left at the T-junction. Soon you will pass a viewpoint bench (if there's no corn standing, beautiful view over the hilly landscape). Then along a cool hollow path and some forest. On the right a hop garden, pass it halfway, then take the paved road on the left and go downhill again towards Leitenbach. Before the village entrance, a wildlife enclosure on the left. Sometimes you can see game there. Follow the road into the village. The stream is crossed again here: a dog can easily reach the water here. At the T-junction: small church) turn right onto the main road. Leitenbach is a neat village. Nice views into the blooming gardens! After leaving the village turn left onto a wide gravel field road and follow it. Here it is flat as a board. You walk parallel to the river Abens with a meadow in between, heading towards Mainburg. Water-loving dogs can also find access to the river here depending on the season. But please remember: From mid-April to June, fawn alert. Keep the dog on the path.
The meadows then change into fenced sheep pastures. Continue following the field road. After the Dirschengrub sewage treatment plant (on the right) go straight ahead on a path (sign "Agriculture and forestry free") and continue along the edge of the forest. Pass two rest benches and after the 2nd bench at the fork take the narrowest of the 3 paths straight ahead (marked "R37"). This way it goes along gardens and the Abens river until the road. Turn left and shortly after turn left again to the Theresienhütte (sign or street as with the arrival). Now it gets a bit steep on the last piece of the path. "Hut-tavern atmosphere" kicks in! Nice tavern. Info at www.theresienhütte.de
