Leisurely walking route Panorama Trail
The walk starts from the parking lot at Christ Church, initially along the village street to the left turn up into Kehrweg. Here follow the trail marking “white eye on an orange background.” Along the way, you pass the three Westwall tunnels that served as refuges during wartime, today bats use the tunnels as winter quarters.
On the walking tour around Rumbach is the legendary Christkindelsfelsen with its spacious platform. Here you have a magnificent view of Rumbach and Dahner Felsenland. Following the trail marker, you reach the Langentalblick rest area above the path, where a short break is offered.
Back on the panorama trail along the Sesselberg, views open repeatedly of the village of Rumbach and idyllic Langental. From the forest edge, the path then leads across open fields back to the starting point. A visit to Christ Church with its impressive old frescoes is always worthwhile.

Wirtshaus zum SalztripplerSafety information
Especially in autumn, take care that leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees may still fall or branches may fall down afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them. Despite the “non-lost” marking of the premium hiking trails, for safety reasons we always recommend carrying a suitable hiking map so that, for example, in case of a thunderstorm or emergency you can quickly find a safe area.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work, hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you encounter closures or detours on site, please observe the notices for your own safety.

Roadbook
The premium leisurely walking route near Rumbach is a comfortable circular trail that can be walked at a strolling pace in about two hours. The walk starts from the parking lot at the Christ Church. The panorama trail is impressive, showcasing what can be experienced over five kilometers of hiking path.
Along the village street for the route past the fountain square in Oberdorf, the Swiss Fountain commemorates Swiss immigrants who revived the nearly extinct village after the Thirty Years' War.
Now, the path continues a short distance along the former pioneer road to four tunnels, which can be found easily hidden at the roadside and were built by German pioneers around 1939. Information boards at the tunnel entrances provide detailed explanations of the background. Towards the end of World War II, people from the village used the tunnels as refuges. Today, they serve as winter quarters for bats, hedgehogs, and other animals.
The panorama trail continues at a leisurely pace with the walking tour around Rumbach to the next stop, the Christkindelsfelsen. Via a metal ladder, you reach the secured platform, from which a breathtaking panoramic view of Rumbach and Jüngstberg is offered. If you take a closer look at this viewing rock, you can discover charming pre-Christmas surprises.
The trail marking “white eye on orange background” now guides walkers to the Langentalblick rest area. You only need a few more steps uphill to reach the beautiful resting and relaxation spot above the path.
Occasionally, benches along the path invite you to pause for a moment and let your gaze wander into the distance.
Through mixed forest, the forest path leads in a wide arc along the Hinterer and Vorderer Sesselberg. Again and again, there are views of the quaint half-timbered village of Rumbach in the idyllic Langental. From the edge of the forest, the premium walking route leads us across open fields back to the starting point at Christ Church. Here, there is still some time to take a look inside one of the oldest churches in the Palatinate. In the choir area of the church (formerly St. Gangolf Church), impressive medieval frescoes were found and uncovered during renovation work.
