One of the most rewarding activities in the realm of the Eggentaler Mountains is the Latemar High Path, which connects the Eggentaler Alm meadows with the Karerpass region. The western section of the trail, Satteljoch – Erzlahnkar, starts at the upper station of the Oberholz lift. Descending to Obereggen offers a dream tour for clear, sunny days.
From Obereggen take the Oberholz lift to the upper station. From here, walk 50 m south to a fork in the trail. Take trail number 23 straight ahead along the wooded western slope of the Latemar and down to Jst. Mayrl Alm, 2037 m. On a natural road, descend southwards to the Reiterjoch road (trail no. 9) and ascend it to the Reiterjoch, 1996 m (wayside shrine). The road (trail no. 505), passing below Jst. Ganischger Alm, leads level over meadows to the southeast to Ghf. Zischgalm, 2006 m. Take trails no. 521 and 504 over meadow slopes up southeast to Satteljoch, 2121 m (wayside shrine). On trail no. 516 ascend the grassy ridge of Cima Cavignon to the left (north) to a shoulder, 2330 m. From there take trail no. 22 left into the west side of the Latemar massif. Descend northwards over green scree slopes to a fork. Continue straight down into a green cirque and from there ascend leftwards to a large meadow terrace. Descend and then walk level over it to a fork directly above the Oberholz
