The circular route through the Laranzer Forest presented here is a small, entertaining hike and is ideal for getting a first overview of the immediate surroundings of Seis. Initially, it is the mighty rocky Schlern and the Santnerspitze, which points like a sword to the sky, that captivate us; later, the view at the Königswarte, located nearby, impresses with its gorge-like Eisack Valley and the often mist-covered Bolzano Basin.
From the center of Seis eastwards to the bypass road LS 24. Keep left on it (sidewalk) towards Kastelruth for 10 minutes uphill to the left turn of the "Laranzstraße" (bus stop "Gschlier" of lines 170, 172, 177 and 179). The asphalt road with trail no. 7B, passing the Mirabell Castle Hotel, Zemmerhof, and Hotel Rungghof, ascends westwards to a scenic ridge with a junction. Here continue straight on a dirt road heading northwest, crossing the hollow of Laranz Meadow (Schlern view!) and reach the fortress-like Laranzer estate at the forest edge, 1094 m.Before the courtyard entrance at the forest edge, go up a bit to the right, then sharply to the left and ascend southwestwards on a beautiful promenade path through a pine forest to the lightly wooded viewing platform "Königswarte" (two stacked viewing terraces with benches) at the edge overlooking the Frötschbach Gorge and the Eisack Valley. Continue northwards on a wide path to the junction of the Great and Small Laranzer Circular Trails.
