Langsee:
The 113 ha Langsee is one of the largest lakes in northern Schleswig-Holstein. It is used as a fishing and bathing lake and is very popular due to its location. The lake is almost completely surrounded by forest. Anglers consider Langsee an excellent fishing water; whether you fish from a boat in the middle of the lake or from one of the piers makes no difference. There is also a barrier-free fishing spot in Süderfahrenstedt.
Bathing areas are located in Brekling and Süderfahrenstedt. The bathing area "Waldlust" is near the former youth hostel Brekling at the eastern tip of the lake. The Süderfahrenstedt bathing area is more of a secret tip without further infrastructure. It is located near the northeast tip and is only accessible on foot.
Cistercian Monastery:
People were aware early on of the beauty and special location of Langsee. In 1191, monks founded the "Guldholm" monastery as a Cistercian monastery.
In 1210, the monastery was abandoned again after less than twenty years. Although the exact location where the monastery once stood is unknown, many stories revolve around the monastery and life at that time.
Gut Fahrenstedt:
Gut Fahrenstedt was first mentioned in the 16th century. It was owned by the Clementsen family, who also contributed to the interior design of the church in Fahrenstedt. The manor house was built in 1723 on the foundations of a previous building. The manor house and gatehouse of Gut Fahrenstedt are listed buildings. In 2020, the estate went to the current owners and is used as an equestrian facility.

Roadbook
Start your hike to the right of the LIDL parking lot. A dirt road leads south from here. At the next intersection, turn left into Kattbeker Straße. Shortly before L28, at a T-junction, turn right. At the next intersection, first turn right into Knickstraße and then left into Wiesenweg. At an intersection, keep right and stay on Wiesenweg. You will reach Schleswiger Straße (L22), which you cross.
Continue straight on Mühlenstraße. After about 400 m, turn left onto a dirt road (sign "Wanderweg Langsee"). Follow the path along the wooded slope. You will reach stairs that lead down to the lake. Now follow the path along the lake. You will pass the bathing area (beautiful view!) and after about 2 km, the dirt road leads right onto Grünholmer Straße. Turn right here. At a T-junction, turn left onto the street "Heidefeld". At the next intersection, turn right. After a sharp left curve, turn right onto a dirt road. It then makes a sharp right curve and leads you into a forest.
At the exit of the forest, continue right on Stolkerhecker Weg and at the next T-junction, turn left onto Krokholmer Weg. At the next T-junction, turn right into Stolkerhecker Weg/Krokholm and follow this until Schleswiger Straße. First turn left and shortly after at the roundabout, turn right to return to your starting point.
