Roadbook
We climb up to the Erlöserkirche, visit it, and go down a little on the other side to the village. Immediately to the right we have the place to eat, the hiking hut "Em Backes." We turn left and immediately left again. At a fork in the road, we keep left and follow the Regio Rad Route Kyll-Ahr. We leave the village, see the Erlöserkirche behind us, and look out over the wide landscape.
Where the bike path sharply turns left to the industrial park, we go straight ahead, turn left and then right. We climb up to the Winterberg and turn right in the forest after a left curve. We walk straight ahead past a field, come back into the forest, and at the end of the path keep right. We follow the path straight ahead and descend into the valley of the Wammesbach, where the Eifel trail "Toscana der Eifel" joins us from the left.
Down in the valley, before the stream, we turn right onto the path and walk straight down the valley of the Wammesbach. We cross the Lampertsbach on a bridge and reach the wide hiking path on the other side of the valley. We turn right and now simply follow the hiking signs of the Eifel loop "Where streams disappear." The name is significant, as the Lampertsbach carries no water over long periods of the year since it flows underground. Only in the winter half-year with heavy precipitation does the water flow above ground as well.
Where the valley of the Mirbach enters the valley from the right, the wide path turns right. We, however, continue straight and follow the meadow path down the valley. After a while, we can make out the federal road K 69 ahead. Shortly before that, however, we turn right, cross the dry streambed, then a wide hiking path, and climb straight out of the valley. At the top of the forest, we turn right and hike upward along the forest edge and meadows. We reach the sports field and continue straight ahead.
Where we again encounter a forest, we walk along the left forest edge and then follow the path after a right curve through the woods. We walk straight ahead and follow a short section of the Eifel loop "Juniper Heath." We now walk somewhat above the valley, which according to the Eifelverein map is called Birkental. Near the top, we pass a bench from where, as on the entire route from the sports field, there is a great view over the landscape. We continue straight ahead, leave the hiking path "Juniper Heath," and reach an asphalt path.
We turn left and then take the next wide field path to the right. We pass a solitary tree and walk along the Schwarzental according to the Eifelverein map. We cross a wide saddle and walk straight downhill again. At a left curve, we take the small road downhill to Mirbach. First, we walk straight ahead, then turn left, then right, follow the road straight ahead and see the place to eat, the hiking hut "Em Backes," in the right curve. After a rest, we walk up to the Erlöserkirche and descend to the car park.
