One of the most beautiful hikes in the area
Immersed in the evocative Valle Sabbia and dominated by the Little Dolomites of Brescia, Lake Idro is the third largest lake in the province of Brescia and one of the most important in Lombardy. Less crowded compared to the more famous Lake Garda and Lake Iseo, it offers the opportunity to explore and relax in a peaceful atmosphere, away from the crowds.
The route around the lake is a loop of difficulty E, which can be done clockwise or counterclockwise. The itinerary alternates panoramic paths, wild beaches, and wooden walkways with more challenging sections, such as those on paved roads on the western shore and through tunnels. Despite some difficulties, the magnificent landscapes make every effort worthwhile. Once back at the starting point, you can enjoy a well-deserved swim in the fresh lake waters.
Author’s recommendation
The route crosses some picturesque natural attractions, such as Pian d’Oneda, an agricultural area known for its corn from which a renowned local flour is made, the Svassi lagoon, beaches like Baitoni, famous for its tranquility, and charming places like Vesta, Crone, and Lemprato. There are also historical sites, such as the border between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy carved into the rock, the Rocca di Anfo, and the Venetian Walls.
