An interesting route for people who enjoy finding their way.
From late May to mid-June, the brilliant carnation, the water carnation, and others bloom on the right side of the path between Krebsbach and the forest.
Author’s recommendation
Visit the newly designed community center and the chapel of rest at the cemetery in Theinselberg. One can almost feel how life and death belong together.
In summer, swim in the Schachenweiher and refresh yourself at the kiosk for the return journey.

Roadbook
From the car park at the church of St. Afra, we head up the road towards Theinselberg. Just before the church, there is a signpost on the left that leads us to the castle site with an information board.
After a short stay, we retrace our steps a short distance back to the road, then pass the church on the right and descend the hill. This road becomes a gravel road on the outskirts of town. It leads eastward over the Krebsbach to the forest. There, we meet a crossing farm road and continue to the left until the path bends sharply to the right and goes uphill. Here, however, we do not go up on the right but take a left past a stone cairn on a tree stump along an overgrown path straight through the undergrowth to the edge of the forest. There, we walk about 50 m straight over the meadow and meet a path that leads us to the right to the hamlet of Schachen.
A signpost shows us to the left the continuation to the Schachen bath below. This idyllic place invites you to rest and possibly a refreshing swim in summer. From here, another signpost shows us the way back to Theinselberg, whose church can be seen from a distance. It leads us along a meadow path to a gravel road. Here, we turn right and walk along this road, which is later asphalted, continuing to the Krebsbach. After the little creek, the narrow road leads through a meadow. At the end of the meadow, we leave the road to the left and walk along the edge of the forest to the next crossing path that leads us straight back to Theinselberg. Here, we only need to walk a short piece down the hill on our outward way back to the church.
