La Berra via the Hauta Chia and La Valsainte
Outdooractive Creative Commons
Circular hike from La Valsainte: Ascent to La Berra with panoramic view, return via La Cieme through forests and alpine meadows to the historic charterhouse.
This varied circular hike starts at the La Valsainte charterhouse, the last active charterhouse in Switzerland. From there, the path leads steadily uphill through quiet forests and alpine meadows to the summit of La Berra. At the top, you will find an impressive 360° panoramic view over the Fribourg Prealps up to the Alpine ranges. Information boards help to identify the surrounding peaks such as Kaiseregg or Dents Vertes. The descent initially follows along the ridge, then variedly through wooded areas and open meadows via La Cieme back into the valley. This route harmoniously combines nature experience, cultural heritage, and impressive views. Thanks to its versatility, it is suitable both for sporty ambitious hikers and for anyone who likes to pause and enjoy the landscape on the way.
