The Kurjen kierros route connects with the Levaneva nature reserve trail, part of which runs on boardwalks. The mosaic-like fen area’s well-preserved wilderness and rich species diversity offer excellent opportunities for hiking and nature observation. The Levaneva nature reserve is part of the Natura 2000 network and is the largest mire protection area in Ostrobothnia and South Ostrobothnia. Due to the diverse mire communities of the area, the overall species diversity is very high. Because of its size and location, the area has been spared from land clearing and forest ditching. Thanks to this, the fen has remained almost untouched to this day.
In Levaneva at Maalarinmaa there is a nature tower, a kota shelter and a dry toilet, as well as a wilderness hut, camping area, dry toilet and campfire site at the end of the side trail in the Särkinen yard. At the northern end of Kurjen kierros is the Rajavuori wilderness and hiking center, managed by the municipality of Laihia (laihia.fi). There is a dry toilet at the center’s yard, and along the nature trail starting from the yard are two lean-tos and a nature tower. At the southern end of Kurjen kierros in Pässilä there is a parking area with a dry toilet and a campfire shelter as well as the Pässilänmaja hut.
