On historic paths along the edge of an ancient Cretan forest. Mighty old cypresses and the endemic Cretan Abelitsia shrub (Zelkova abelicea) grow here. The traditional Cretan walking sticks come from its wood.
From the car park to the old path Kritsa - Katharos plateau. Marked yellow-black. Partly sharp limestones. After three kilometres, on the left, a viewpoint on the road with a note on the endangered Abelitsia shrubs. Along the path there are shrubs that look like gnomes due to overgrazing by goats. Shortly afterwards, turn right from the yellow-black hiking trail onto the trail dotted on the map. It is hardly recognisable at the beginning. You may have to scramble a little (walking sticks could help) into the gorge. Parallel to the water, it is then relatively clearly recognisable. After about a hundred metres, it turns right away from the water. First through forest with old cypresses and oaks, later over scrubland to the natural road. From there to the car park.
